The Role

The postholder will assist the Senior Charge Midwife to deliver high quality evidence based woman and baby centred care. S/he will be involved in providing both individualised patient care and in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within all areas of the maternity service, ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshire’s policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC. To provide safe, effective centred person care.

In this key role, you will:

  • Planning, assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating planned programmes of care
  • Being an advocate for women and their families and promoting normality throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period
  • Provide a health education role for women their partners and extended families
  • Setting and maintaining standards of care

What You'll Bring:

  • Registered Midwife with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence. delete if not required

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
