The role:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Tester to join our Applications Architecture team within the eHealth Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of critical healthcare systems that support clinicians, staff, and patients across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a wide range of clinical and business applications. Your work will directly impact patient care by ensuring systems are safe, effective, and fit for purpose.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Smithhills Street, Paisley
- The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
Key responsibilities:
- Close engagement with a variety of projects and support teams, as well as service users, will be required to interpret business needs, derive test cases and inform a test approach
- The post holder will create detailed test scripts from functional specifications, requirements documents and or technical design documents to organisation and industry standards, identify test data and conditions, review technical documentation and requirements analysis, design and run automated test scripts using the company's automated tool and design and run manual test scripts
- Assisting in the maintenance of multiple testing environments, ensuring the correct configuration of hardware before testing to guarantee that the environment is consistent
- To locate the presence of issues, assist in identifying possible solutions via communication with other departments within and outside the development department
- Liaison with end-users of the products under test to enable effective benefits-based testing to prove the products deliver as designed
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Agile practices (including Azure DevOps and JIRA) are now our preferred approach, and knowledge/experience of such methods would be useful
- Candidate should possess experience of testing either through a relevant diploma/degree or previous practical workplace experience
- Consideration will be given to candidates with experience of using or supporting software in use in NHSGGC, and who can demonstrate a methodical approach and good service knowledge

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
