The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Unscheduled CAMHS Team, offering a dynamic and rewarding role for a motivated and compassionate clinician. This post provides the chance to develop and expand your knowledge and skills within a fast‑paced service supporting young people in crisis.

As a key member of the Unscheduled CAMHS Team, you will take a lead role in the assessment and management of young people under 18 years of age who present in mental health crisis. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading unscheduled and emergency mental health assessments for children and young people.
  • Providing clinical support, guidance, and development opportunities to junior staff.
  • Holding a small clinical caseload focused on safety, stabilisation, and short‑term therapeutic interventions.
  • Contributing to the wider CAMHS function, including referral screening, risk assessment, and planning for hospital transfers.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care pathways.

You will be supported to grow your leadership, assessment, and therapeutic skills while working within a experienced and supportive team.

In this key role, you will:

  • Apply values based practice principles to inform decision making in all aspects of care and treatment of clients / patients and in interactions with colleagues
  • Deputise for the team leader / senior charge nurse and act to ensure the effective running of the service in their absence as required
  • Be fully compliant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the other relevant guidance documents, which support and maintain standards of professional practice for nurses and midwives.
  • Actively contribute to the development of an atmosphere and environment, which promotes and facilitates learning, regularly liaising with Practice Education Facilitators and Clinical and Professional Development Nurses to support learning
  • Participate in the identification of health needs of the local population accessing the service.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
