At NHS Forth Valley we are keen to promote research within patient care, enhancing patient experience and outcomes through research and innovation. In NHS Forth Valley, research is supported across a variety of specialties and includes a diverse portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial projects.

There is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Research & Development team as a Research Assistant. The role will support Research Nurses and R&D Management, carrying out a large range of administration and data related tasks.

Activities will include scheduling study appointments, supporting and monitoring research participants and supporting Research Nurses with administration and data tasks. It will also include recording accurate participant data and use of electronic patient management systems and web-based study specific IT systems and databases. The role will involve assisting with the EDGE clinical research system, including training of research active staff in the use of EDGE and creating reports for other team members.

You will be someone with excellent organisational and people skills. Knowledge of relevant research legislation gained through education and/or experience working within a research position would be advantageous. Excellent IT skills are essential and experience of working with the EDGE clinical research system is highly desirable.

This post will be primarily based within Forth Valley Royal Hospital; however the postholder will be required to work flexibly across NHS Forth Valley.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
