- This post will be based within the Royal Alexandra Hospital however, you may be moved to Inverclyde Royal Hospital as per the candidate information pack.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invite applications for a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with a specialist interest in Frailty and Stroke Medicine, to support service delivery across Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH).
This is a split‑site post designed to strengthen stroke consultant capacity (including HASU cover at RAH) while supporting frailty pathways and acute geriatric medicine across the Clyde sector. The post sits within a supportive consultant body delivering integrated frailty and stroke services across both sites
The successful applicant will deliver consultant‑led stroke medicine, including participation in the HASU rota at RAH, whilst supporting acute stroke admissions and stroke outpatient services at IRH. In addition, the candidate will provide comprehensive geriatric assessment within the frailty team within an acute assessment ward within RAH.
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within our frailty and stroke services. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to various patient needs.
Within this role you will be one of a team of consultants supported by a dedicated team of specialist nursing staff who are committed to improving patient pathways to promote and deliver high standards of patient care, outcomes, experience, safety and quality. Your application and interview will demonstrate the skill set needed to join us in delivering, developing and teaching expert care within this exciting and challenging specialty.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience in all aspects of geriatric and stroke medicine.
