The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 3 Higher Clerical Officer (permanent) within NHSL Health Improvement Department.
The role will be to provide administrative and clerical support to both the Lanarkshire Weight Management Service and the Locality Health Improvement Team (Cambuslang/Rutherglen, East Kilbride).

The post will be equally split amongst both teams, be based in Beckford Street, Hamilton and will be required to also work regularly (weekly) within Cambuslang/Rutherglen to accommodate the needs of the Health Improvement locality team.

In this key role, you will:

  • Day to day maintenance of departmental requirements to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Dealing with enquiries, either face-to-face or by telephone, from the general public, patients and external agencies.
  • Implement and maintain diary management and appointment systems.
  • Resolve disputed appointment times, offer new appointments and re-arrange existing appointments.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience in an Administrative and Clerical role.
  • Educated to Higher Grade level.
  • Ability to supervise staff.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills in customer care.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
