NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest National Health Service provider in Scotland with an annual operating budget of just over £3 billion. The Diagnostic Imaging directorate undertakes over a million imaging exams & procedures per year and supports numerous regional and national specialist clinical services, not available elsewhere in Scotland.

A £1billion acute modernization programme has been undertaken which included the opening in spring 2015 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children. NHS GG&C has invested £15 million in new facilities and equipment, specifically in the areas of CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Digital Mammography, PET CT / SPECT CT, Angiography and General Digital Imaging.

Recent investments provide dual energy CT, single heartbeat cardiac CT and enhanced cardiac MRI provision. Radiologists are supported by a pan NHSGGC RIS, national PACS and thin client specialist reporting support including AI reporting tools.
