The Role
Working with the Adult Mental Health Inpatient Wards & Adult CMHTs to lead the development and delivery of improvement programmes to support service transformation through delivery of a range of high impact changes with a specific focus on implementation of the Adult Core Mental Health Standards.
This post will provide an exciting opportunity to lead the implementation of the Adult Mental Health Core Standards across NHS Lanarkshire Adult mental Health Services. The focus of the post holder will be to manage and lead the design and implementation of the Standrads alongside continuing to develop/review existing service provision. The role includes delivering internal and external reports on progression of services, linking with Senior managers across different departments within NLHSCP, Scottish Government and Health Improvement Scotland. The post holder will link directly with the Service Manager and Clinical Leads for Adult Mental Health Services.
The post holder will be a source of encouragement and motivation within the team and act as a role model by representing the values and beliefs of the organisation.
The post holder will require influencing/ negotiating skills when working within the leadership capacity and they will actively participate in a range of meetings that support effective communications.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 18 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In this key role, you will:
- Present complex and contentious information about service and individual performance and outcomes in a sensitive way, leading positive challenge to staff to encourage change.
- To play an active part in the implementation phase of redesign and reconfiguration of services, including closer collaboration between primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care, the voluntary sector, education, and social work.
- Ensure that local teams have the capability and capacity to deliver the required outcomes and are enabled to make significant and sustainable changes through sharing improvement skills and learning.
- Enlist and gain the cooperation of the diverse groups of staff involved in local services to ensure successful delivery of transformation programmes. The ability to negotiate and influence are key skills required to facilitate service change.
What You'll Bring:
- Significant experience and knowledge of health service management, including change management and service/workforce redesign acquired through training and experience
- Experience of managing clinical and organisational challenges
- Ability to handle complex work without supervision
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
