An exciting opportunity to combine clinical excellence with education and leadership

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and motivated Clinical Educator for our Cath Lab to join our Clinical Education team within the Heart and Lung Division at NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse with a strong background in interventional cardiology to shape learning, development and practice within a highly specialised cardiac catheter laboratory environment, while continuing to work clinically alongside staff.

About the role

As Clinical Educator, you will play a key role in developing, delivering and evaluating education and training that supports safe, effective and evidence-based care within the Cath Labs and associated cardiology services. You will promote a positive learning culture, support staff at all stages of their careers, and ensure education activity aligns with organisational Clinical Education and Nursing Strategies.

You will work closely with Senior Charge Nurses, Clinical Nurse Managers, Practice Education Facilitators (PEFs) and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure staff are competent, supported and developed to meet the complex demands of interventional cardiology practice.

Alongside your education remit, you will function as a specialist practitioner, demonstrating in-depth clinical knowledge, leadership and professional credibility within the Cath Lab.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading and coordinating clinical education, training and competency development for nursing and support staff within the Cath Lab.
  • Working clinically alongside staff to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in practice.
  • Supporting preceptorship, Flying Start™ and Future Nurse programmes in partnership with PEFs and HEIs.
  • Supporting Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) development, including SVQ-linked education.
  • Contributing to the development and review of local policies, guidelines and training packages in line with best practice.
  • Supporting audit, research and evidence-based practice to drive continuous improvement.
  • Acting as a role model, mentor and change agent within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in the on-call rota.

About you

You will be a registered nurse with significant experience in cardiology and interventional practice, passionate about developing others and improving standards of care.

You will bring:

  • Strong clinical credibility within the Cath Lab environment
  • A genuine commitment to education, mentorship and professional development
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary and organisational priorities
