Clinical Fellow: Medicine for Older Adults – Fixed Term

Based at University Hospital Monklands (UHM), with input to Hospital at Home / Intermediate Care.

The Medicine for Older Adults team at UHM are seeking a Clinical Fellow to join their team, for a period of one year from August 2026; however an earlier start date may be possible, extending the period of the post.

You will join a team of Consultants, Specialty Doctors and multi-disciplinary professionals; a team who have a significant track record in delivering service change and in quality improvement for patients living with frailty in North Lanarkshire.

The department provides services across four inpatient wards at UHM as well as intermediate care facilities at two sites across Lanarkshire. The team support outpatients, stroke, frailty assessment, movement disorder, falls and ortho-geriatrics, as well as the hospital at home service. The team work in tandem with General Medicine colleagues to support medical receiving for older adults living with frailty within our dedicated 24 bedded Acute Frailty Unit (AFU).
The successful candidate will mainly support services across the four older adults’ wards, including the AFU, but flexibility will be required in order to provide cover across the two intermediate care sites if needed. There will also be opportunity to input to the Hospital at Home and Primary Care Frailty and Care Home MDT services.
