Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is full.

This is a fixed-term post for 12 months.

These posts are available from August 2026 and are based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a tenure of 12 months. Applications are welcome from doctors who have completed the Foundation Programme and are considering a career in anaesthesia/critical care, or those who have completed core training and are looking for something different prior to the next stage of their career.

The post holder will be based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. There are 6 clinical development fellow posts with an 80:20 split of time between clinical and non-clinical duties (a range of activities can be supported in this non-clinical time - research, QI, teaching/education, simulation, advanced clinical skills).

Clinical duties will involve the routine and emergency care of level 2 and level 3 patients within the QEUH Critical Care unit. This will be on a separate rota (with prospective cover) from the two existing rotas staffed by resident doctors in training on rotation to the department. You will work shifts including, nights and weekends.

These posts have not been approved for training purposes by NHS Education for Scotland, however, applicants will have access to the full range of educational opportunities.
