The role:
We are seeking a motivated, organised and compassionate Band 3 Healthcare support Worker/Coordinator to join our Same Day Admissions Unit. This role is pivotal to ensuring the safe, efficient and well-documented flow of patients through the admission process in a fast-paced surgical environment. The Ward Assistant will support the smooth operational running of the SDAU by coordinating patient flow from admission through to transfer to theatre. Working closely with registered nurses, theatre teams and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure patients are prepared, documentation is complete, and the environment remains safe and compliant.

No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa. routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- The shift pattern is a series of dayshifts, Monday to Friday
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the safe, timely and fully documented flow of patients from admission through to transfer to theatre
- Support Nursing & Theatre Teams to ensure all admission checks, documentation and preparation are completed
- Act as a key point of contact within the Unit to support efficient patient flow and escalation of issues
- Assist with the safe transfer of patient belongings to inpatient wards as required
- Carry out and support SOP-led cleaning of clinical areas. Equipment and patient spaces, ensuring infection prevention standards are met
- Maintain high standards of patient care, dignity, privacy and safety
- Identify and escalate concerns relating to patient Flow, documentation or safety
- Work collaboratively with the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver a positive patient experience
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A flexible, calm and patient-centred approach in a busy clinical setting
- Desirable but not essential;
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
- Experience working in an acute, surgical or Same Day admissions environment
- A good understanding of patient pathways and the importance of accurate documentation
