Band 6 (£43,169 - £52,603) – PgCert qualified Mammographer
This role follows a full time 36-hour working week. Standard hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday with an accrued rostered day off every second week.
Applications for part-time working are welcome, hours would be worked within the standard operating hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm
This post will see the successful candidates join a Mammography team consisting of Specialist Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, Advanced Practitioners and a Consultant Radiographer.
Services consist of the Breast Screening unit and Symptomatic mammography held within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Two mobile units also serve the outlying areas in Grampian including Orkney and Shetland.
We are looking to employ mature, caring and enthusiastic Radiographers who will fit in to our friendly team, dedicated to providing an excellent service for our patients in our locality. The candidate will play a pivotal role in breast cancer diagnosis and may be involved in upsetting situations, although sometimes challenging, the post is extremely rewarding.
This is an exciting time within the Breast Service in Aberdeen, with a move to the new Family Baird Hospital expected in the summer of 2027.
The Breast Screening Service and the Symptomatic Department is based within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Mobile units serve more outlying areas within the Grampian region including the Orkney and Shetland Isles.
A Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography or equivalent is essential for the post, but consideration will be given to a qualified Radiographer willing to undertake this training. The next training course starts in August 2026, commitment required would be a 1 year course delivered by Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh in conjunction with the Scottish Academy of Breast Imaging in Glasgow. Commitment to a clinical training week in Glasgow and three online academic weeks are required within the year.
International Applicants, please note – For trained Mammographers, It is essential that international applicants provide a copy of their certificate and course transcript with individual module description and general course learning outcomes at the time of application. An outline of clinical experience obtained during the training period must also be included. All International applicants must confirm their English language proficiency by providing evidence of an International English language Test System (IELTS) (or equivalent) overall score of 7.0 with no element below 6.5.'
A current valid driving licence is essential as working on our mobile van is a commitment of the post.
It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is female due to the intimate nature of the work.
