The role:
All Posts will be based within the in patient theatre unit RAH in the Clyde Sector of NHSGGC.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Theatre perioperative practitioner post, within the Main Theatre Unit unit in RAH. The unit consists of 9 operating theatres, a 12 bedded recovery area, and a theatre reception area staffed by the recovery escort team.

The unit provides peri operative care for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures including, Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT and both elective and trauma Orthopaedics. In addition to having current NMC/HCPC registration applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and have an interest of working in the peri-operative environment. Previous experience within the peri-operative environment, is a definate advantage. The department offers team support and continuing education opportunities.

The department offers team support and continuing education opportunities including supported funded access to the safe scrub module, anaesthetic and recovery courses at GCU as well as our own inhouse comprehensive training and mentorship programme.
The successful candidates are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service, which runs over a 7 day week, including night shift. Furthermore, the successful candidates will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Permanent Contract
- Full-time and part-time position (36 & 27.63 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post include Monday -Sunday, Early Late, nights
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and well-being are met.
- Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
- Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well-being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner; thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.
Contribute to the provision of an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards.
Complete clinical appraisal of pre-registration nurses and health care support staff
Participate in performance appraisal in line with policy.
Demonstrate own professional development.
Organise own time and that of junior staff and learners, providing an effective leadership role.
Ensures effective day-to-day management of other resources including stores supplies, pharmacy and maintenance of equipment.

- First/Second Level Registered Nurse / ODP with the ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description
