ROXBURGH STREET SURGERY

Medical Receptionist/Administrator – 23.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for someone to join our Reception team at Roxburgh Street Surgery.

We pride ourselves in offering a friendly, confidential and efficient service for our patients.

An experienced person would be preferable but training would be available for anyone who we think has potential to thrive in our busy environment.

23.5 hours per week

Tuesday : 2pm- 6pm Wednesday : 8am – 6pm

Thursday : 8am – 12pm Friday :12pm – 6pm

Flexibility required during holidays and busy times, 8 weeks pro rata Annual Leave, NHS pension

£13.14 per hour

Duties

  • Greeting patients upon arrival and assisting them with the check-in process.
  • Scheduling, cancelling and rearranging appointments.
  • Answering phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries, signposting patients to appropriate services or directing calls to staff members.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring confidentiality in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Processing prescriptions, patient registrations, insurance information, and payments as required.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, emails and managing correspondence.

Skills

  • Organisational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to interact with both patients and colleagues.
  • Experience of office software applications, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Empathy and patience when dealing with patient queries and concerns whilst also maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in an office or administrative role is advantageous, particularly within a medical setting.
