Practice Nurse (Qualified or Trainee)
Niddrie Medical Practice

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Practice Nurse—either qualified or trainee—to join our friendly, forward‑thinking team at Niddrie Medical Practice.

We are a growing training practice, providing high‑quality care to a diverse population of approximately 4,900 patients. The practice serves the Niddrie and Craigmillar communities from a spacious, purpose‑built health centre shared with another GP practice and a wide range of community services. We are a 5‑GP partnership, supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including:

  • 1 Practice Nurse
  • 1 Healthcare Assistant
  • 1 Practice Mental Health Nurse
  • 1 Community Link Worker
  • Pharmacy support

The whole team meets on Wednesdays, and we actively encourage input from all staff members. We believe that a supportive, happy team is essential for delivering high‑quality patient care and ensuring job satisfaction.

Our Clinical System is Vision

The role will include (depending on experience and training needs):

  • Cervical screening
  • IM injections
  • Wound management
  • HRT and contraception reviews
  • Long-term Conditions Management

Knowledge or experience in Chronic Disease Management would be particularly welcome.

If you require Practice Nurse training, we would encourage and support enrolment on the NES GPN Education Pathway Course on starting with us. Additional training will be provided in the management of Long‑Term Conditions including Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Disease.

Hours and working pattern:

  • 15–20 hours per week (number of hours may be negotiable)
  • Hours are negotiable between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Must include Monday

All applicants must:

  • Hold a valid NMC registration
  • Hold a current PVG certificate
  • Be eligible to work in the UK

If you are a registered nurse with experience in a Treatment Room, Practice Nursing, or a similar clinical role, we would love to hear from you.

Informal visits are encouraged and warmly welcome
