We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and resilient experienced Registered Children’s Nurse to join the specialist nursing team in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. This is an exciting role with opportunities to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing care to children with Epilepsy. You will be trained and supported to work within the speciality and will receive support from and work closely with the Band 7 nurse.


Potential applicant(s) must be enthusiastic, hardworking and motivated. You should be able to prioritise workload to provide high standards of nursing care in a variety of settings; including inpatients in Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Dr Gray’s, the community and occasionally in the patient’s home.


The post holder will co-ordinate and provide advice, interventions and educational support to children, young people and families and those supporting them in the community settings. A large proportion of the job is medicine management including writing prescriptions, titration plans and providing training.


This is a great opportunity for personal development in a supportive learning environment. Personal and role development will be identified and supported.


The post holder will become part of a wider Clinical Nurse Specialist team that includes a variety of specialities. This requires working closely with other Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide a holistic approach to the specialist care of children and young people with long term conditions.


Paediatric nursing experience is essential, experience of childhood Epilepsy or a proven interest in the specialty is essential. Car driver/owner essential. Non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable however willingness to complete this course within 1 year is essential.
