We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

You will provide a highly specialised and effective paediatric radiology service, producing high quality diagnostic images while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients, parents, staff and visitors.

In addition, you will provide leadership within the team, supervising and supporting radiographers and Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs), and acting as a mentor to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective and high quality service at all times.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a full-time permanent post working 36 hours per week.
  • You will be based within Royal Hospital for Children.

Key responsibilities:

You will be responsible for justifying and undertaking a range of radiological procedures, delivering direct patient care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service for patients referred by clinicians and other referrers within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and beyond.

You will safely perform high quality cross-sectional imaging examinations within a high-risk environment, ensuring that all patients, staff and visitors are protected and that the complexities and safety considerations associated with MRI and strong magnetic fields are fully adhered to.

You will develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise across a number of specialised imaging areas, and will be expected to deputise for the Modality Lead Radiographer in their absence.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Significant previous experience

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
