The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm only

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. 

Location: NHSGGC Gender Services, 4th Floor, 93 Candleriggs, Glasgow, G1 1NP

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Practitioner to work clinically and develop this leadership role within the NHS GGC Gender Service, based at Candleriggs in Glasgow City Centre. This is the largest multidisciplinary service of its type in Scotland providing care to adults from eight Health Board areas and young people across Scotland.

The post holder will be part of the expanding multi-disciplinary team in the Gender Service, including psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and nursing, as well as administrative, clerical and other support staff. The postholder will provide medical management and ongoing monitoring for adults experiencing gender incongruence.

The team is taking forward a redesign of services to deliver a more person-centred model of care and meet increasing demand for services and this role supports service redesign to improve access, reduce waiting times, and deliver high-quality, person-centred gender identity healthcare in line with national standards.

The postholder will have a central role in championing pathways of care which cross the primary and secondary care interface.

Applicants should have full GMC registration, a licence to practice and be on the Specialist Register by the time of starting post.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to a CCT in Psychiatry or within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview. Those eligible for specialist registration (CESR) should be in receipt of this at time of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

SPECIALIST DOCTOR must meet the following criteria:

  • shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council; and

  • shall have completed a minimum of 10 years’ medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years’ experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted;

  • shall meet the criteria set out in the Specialist grade generic capabilities framework.
