The role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic healthcare science support worker to join a multidisciplinary team providing Nuclear Medicine services in South Glasgow, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The South Glasgow department operates across several sites, including the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the new Victoria Hospital. Current equipment includes SPECT-CT scanners, gamma cameras and a DXA scanner. This busy department has a workload of over 10,000 patient procedures per annum and specialist procedures include neuro and SPECT-CT.
No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa. routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for roles that do not meet these criteria, and applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Permanent Contract
- Part-time position (20 hours per week)
- The current working days are Wed-Fri (5.5 – 7.5 hours between 0830 & 1630).
Key responsibilities:
The principal roles of the post are to:
- assist during Nuclear Medicine patient examinations, providing direct care to the patient.
- assist in the maintenance of accurate patient records and appointment scheduling on the Radiology Information System.
- perform preparatory clinical operations for patient examinations and laboratory tests.
- perform technical procedures associated with imaging equipment, patient examinations and radioactive materials.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
You will have an SVQ3 in a healthcare / science subject, or equivalent. You will also have knowledge & experience in at least one of the following two fields: healthcare, scientific / technical.
You should have good communication, interpersonal, organisational and IT skills and an ability to work well with patients.
Essential:
- SVQ 3 in a suitable healthcare / science subject or SQA Higher grade in a suitable subject (e.g. science), or equivalent
- Minimum four standard grades, or equivalent
- Knowledge gained by professional qualifications and/or practical experience and/or training to include at least one of:
- Scientific / technical abilities
- (Health)care knowledge.
Desirable:
- Academic / vocational qualification in a scientific / technical or (health)care subject.
- Standard grades to include Mathematics, English and Science.
- Completion of the Training Competency Portfolio (TCP) for HCSW
- Scientific / technical abilities
- Experience & understanding of Dementia care
