Summer Student- Nutrition & Dietetics
Band 2 £26,696 - £28,988 pro rata
Plus £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata
27.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday )
Fixed Term for 3-4 months
Job Summary: The Dietetic Summer Student will assist the dietetic team with various tasks, including administrative work, supporting dietetic staff, data input, menu analysis, and development of resources. This role is designed to provide practical experience in dietetics and nutrition services.
Examples of tasks:
- Administrative Work:
- Assist with correspondence and communication tasks such as photocopying, scanning, posting out letters
- Answer telephone, pass on messages and respond to general enquiries.
- Organisation within the department
- Supporting Dietetic Staff:
- Provide day to day assistance to dietetic staff.
- Help prepare educational materials and resources suitable for use with patients
- Use nutritional analysis software to analyse patient food diaries as required.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.
- Data Input:
- Enter patient data into weight management database
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases.
- Assist with data collection for quality improvement projects.
- Menu Analysis:
- Assist with the analysis of hospital menus for nutritional content.
Qualifications:
- Suitable for those who are studying dietetics, a health related subject or administration.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry software.
- Basic understanding of nutritional principles and dietary guidelines.
Skills and Abilities:
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Learning Opportunities:
- Gain experience in working with the NHS, specifically dietetics and nutrition services.
- Enhance understanding of administrative and data management tasks.
