Clinical Research Facilities Tayside - Clinical Research Fellow
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a FY2+ doctor to support clinical research at the Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) in NHS Tayside. This post is fixed term for one-year.
The post holder will be based at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and the focus of the post is to support Professor Chalmer’s suite of respiratory studies. There may be occasional need for cross-cover or research visits to the Gannochy Research Suite at Perth Royal Infoirmary, but the overall focus and funding of the post is to support these respiratory studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the running of clinical trials, which include examining novel treatments, working alongside experienced research nurses and established Principal Investigators.
Day-to-day work will include study-specific training, screening, approach and consenting of potential subjects, and completion of study visits, assessment and reporting of adverse events and general medical cover for clinical trial participants, including infusion monitoring, and associated documentation.
Training will be provided on commencement of the post in the conduct of clinical trials, including Good Clinical Practice, and study-specific training, including disease assessment and the performance and interpretation of techniques relevant to each study e.g. lung function.
Opportunities will be available for attendance at specialist clinics, and to gain experience in clinical research and relevant procedures. There is some requirement for flexibility in working times dependent on study requirements, but there is no out-of-hours commitment.
