This is a Fixed term post for 12 Months

The Older People and Stroke Services team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary are seeking to fill Clinical Fellow posts to support the work of this dynamic and rapidly growing service. The posts are available from August 2026 for a period of 12months. The posts currently available are as follows:

  • Clinical Development & Teaching Fellow (2 posts available) - hours of work will be 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (with a contribution to out of hours rota). Development time of 1 day a fortnight is allocated to these posts. Banding for rota is currently a 1b.

  • Clinical Fellow (10 post available) – this is a rotational post. The successful candidate will gain clinical experience equivalent to doctors in training, by working in the Frailty unit, Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and acute assessment wards. The post holder will contribute to the out of hours rota. Banding for rota is currently a 1b.

These posts will be based in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and will focus on providing inpatient care to patients in Acute Geriatric and Stroke Assessment beds and will provide cover within our older adult rehabilitation units at Lightburn Hospital and Stobhill ACH. The successful applicants will be attached to an acute assessment ward on a rotational basis and will support the consultant, registrar and other junior doctor teams in providing high quality acute care and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment for our patients.

A range of educational opportunities will be available and the post holder will be allocated appropriate Educational Supervision for the duration of the post, however this is a Directorate post and does not carry recognition from the Postgraduate Deanery for training purposes.

These post are open to doctors who have completed foundation training in the NHS or equivalent setting and hold full GMC registration with a license to practice. Experience of working in Older People’s Service is desirable
