The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly enthusiastic and motivated clinical School Nurse Team Lead within the Children’s Nursing Service in East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership. This post will comprise of 50/50 split between team lead management and clinical caseload.

We are looking for an inspiring individual to provide both professional leadership and operational management, leading the delivery, planning and development of clinical care in Children and Families Nursing services. The East Renfrewshire school nursing team along with our clinical support staff deliver targeted support to meet the wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families.

This leadership role offers opportunity to be involved at a senior level to develop the quality of school nursing services for children and families across East Renfrewshire. The post holder will have experience in delivering Scotland’s Public Health agenda, including Getting it Right for Every Child, The Promise and the Children and Young People’s Act 2014.

The post holder will be highly skilled school nurse with an interest in leadership and people management. They will have a flexible strengths-based approach, be innovative and quality orientated with an ability to respond positively to change.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent full-time post of 36 hours per week.

This post is based in Eastwood Health and Care Centre but may involve working across the authority to support the school nursing service.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm

Key responsibilities:

    1. To work collaboratively with the service manager and Practice Development staff to facilitate, lead, support and co-ordinate the development of staff within their team ensuring that an ethos of shared responsibility and joint working is embedded in practice.
    2. Undertake the leadership and management of the team and develop an effective and positive team environment.
    3. Ensure communication systems verbal and electronic are clear and effective at all levels.
    4. Through supervision and collection of statistical information, monitor and review resources, activity and caseload management with colleagues across the CH(C)P, and system as required.
    5. Directly supervise their team and use this supervision to identify areas of good practice or concern. This includes clinical supervision where professionally appropriate.
    6. Ensure that staff within their service is clinically skilled and appropriately supported to manage Safeguarding issues.
    7. Ensure (along with the university) that effective arrangements are in place for student and qualified nurse placements for pre and post registration students.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

The successful candidate will currently be a Registered Nurse with the NMC and will hold the qualification of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (school nursing). A Post-Graduate Certificate in Child Protection is desirable but not essential.
