Summer Student Placement – Occupational Therapy

Band 2 £26,696 - £28,988 per annum

Plus Distant Islands Allowance £1461 per annum

6 – 8 week summer post

(July - September – dates negotiable)

36 hours per week

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Student Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy team over the summer months. You would play a fundamental part in supporting people to regain confidence and independence in the things that matter to them.

This is not a formal student placement but would be suitable for an Occupational Therapy student who wishes to gain additional experience in working in the Occupational Therapy department, in the Western Isles Hospital and supporting with the administrative role.


The Western Isles Hospital is situated in Stornoway on the beautiful Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The island is served by excellent communications links with the Scottish mainland and is ideally situated for a wide range of cultural and outdoor leisure activities.

We offer the support of a professional and well-established integrated team of Occupational Therapy staff who work across the Western Isles

Applications from students on completion of year 2 or 3 of studying will be considered.

The hours will be 36 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 16:30. All summer student placements are paid at Band 2 and are for a fixed term period.

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
