NHS TAYSIDE

CLINICAL FELLOW (ST1+ level) in EMERGENCY MEDICINE

FIXED TERM POSTS – until August 2027

1-2 Full-time posts

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow (ST1+ level) in Emergency Medicine in Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary. The post are to enhance our current staffing level, allowing us to deliver our current model of Emergency Medicine across Tayside, working on a rota alongside ACCS trainees, GP trainees and clinical fellows.

The successful applicants will join an enthusiastic and innovative team to further enhance the provision of Emergency Medicine at Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary. NHS Tayside has developed an Unscheduled Care system that proactively manages unscheduled ED attendance thereby minimising surges in demand and maintaining good patient flow, supporting achievement of the national 4 hour standard.

Consultant supervision and support will be given so the successful applicants can develop their clinical and non-technical skills, and gain experience in managing the full spectrum of Emergency Medicine presentations. Working at ST1+ level equivalence over time is anticipated.

This rota is a full shift pattern and includes weekend and out of hours working across both sites.

We are looking to recruit 1-2 full time colleagues from August 2026 - this number may increase depending on a parallel recruitment process.

Informal enquiries are welcome by contacting Dr Kieran Smith (EM Consultant) by emailing kieran.smith2@nhs.scot

Please note that we are not currently in a position to facilitate clinical attachments in the Tayside EDs.

Closing Date: 20th April 2026

Interview Date: TBC
