On 1 April 2026, NSS and NES became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

Foundation Programme Director 3 posts: N01 FY1 & FY2, N12 FY1 & FY2, N13 FY1 & FY2

Hours: Part Time, 1 PA (4 hours per week) per post

Duration: Fixed Term / Secondment for 36 months

Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

This will be across 1 PA of time (1PA = 4 hours)

The Foundation Programme Director will be responsible for managing a Foundation Programme (N1, N12 or N13) and the education and training needs of each individual on the programme.

N1 and N13 programmes has been created in North region as part of the permanent expansion of F1 and F2 Foundation posts. N12 is a replacement post. The FPD posts open to permanent staff (Consultant, GP or SAS doctor) based in NHS Grampian or Highland. Accountable to the Postgraduate Dean or appropriate Associate Postgraduate Dean, applicants will be expected to have Recognition of Trainer status and will contribute, in partnership with the existing FPDs based in NHS Grampian, to the formal Foundation teaching programme. It is possible to combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor.

Resident doctors / doctors in training are not eligible to apply for this post.

This is a great opportunity to join the team of 12 FPDs, 2 APGDs and training management team who are enthusiastic about supporting foundation doctors across the North of Scotland.
