Community Specialist Dietitian
Permanent, 15 Hours per week
Band 6: £41,608 - £50,702 pro rata
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 6 Specialist Dietitian (15 hours per week) to join and support our Community Dietetic Team in the Scottish Borders on a permanent basis.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a range of clinical experience to work within our busy community service. Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach are essential, as you will be working as part of a team of Community Dietitians delivering care across a variety of settings. Strong team‑working, organisational, and time‑management skills are key requirements for this role.
Service delivery will involve face‑to‑face, telephone, and virtual contact, providing both one‑to‑one and group interventions. The role will include supervision of dietitians, students, and dietetic support workers, as well as contributing to the training of other healthcare staff.
The post will be based in Peebles (with some flexibility) and will involve travel to meet service needs; therefore, a full driving licence is essential.
The department delivers both acute and community dietetic services and includes a range of specialist posts. You will be joining a well‑respected team of dietitians, supported by dietetic support workers and secretarial staff, with a strong commitment to staff development and clinical excellence.
The Scottish Borders offers an excellent quality of life and is within commuting distance of Edinburgh by road and public transport.

As from 1st April 2026 the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
