Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This post is based in the Department of Acute and General Medicine at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh. There will be a contribution to:
- the acute medical care of patients in our front door assessment area
- the general medicine acute take
- downstream care of general medical patients in the general medical wards
Successful applicants to this post will contribute to novel service development in the care of patients with medical presentations referred by primary care to the Western General and join a cohort of colleagues passionate about excellence in patient care.
Medical specialties on site include Medicine of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Stroke Medicine, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Rheumatology and Dermatology. Further medical specialties are hosted at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and St John’s Hospital Livingston. This post is based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh but may also be required to work at any of NHS Edinburgh and the Lothian’s sites.
