The role:

We are currently seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Dental Nurses within the Public Dental Service, Oral Health Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high quality patient care within a dynamic and supportive environment. The post holder will work as part of a team within the Oral Health Directorate in providing an efficient, effective service to patients by generating a high standard of dental nursing assistance; ensuring agreed quality standards of dental nursing care are achieved.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:


  • Base Locations: 2x posts at Royal Alexandra Hospital and 3x posts within Glasgow City area (locations TBC)
  • Department: Public Dental Service (PDS)
  • Contract Type: Permanent (Full Time and Part Time available)
  • Hours: Monday – Friday 0830-1630 36 hrs


Key responsibilities:

We are currently seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Dental Nurses within the Public Dental Service, Oral Health Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high quality patient care within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Successful candidates will provide clinical support across a range of PDS settings, including but not limited to:

  • PDS Primary and Secondary Care locations

  • Domiciliary care settings

  • Undergraduate outreach clinics

  • General anaesthetic theatres

  • Inhalation sedation clinics

  • Prisons

  • Mobile dental unit

  • Schools (supporting the National Dental Inspection Programme – NDIP)

Successful candidates will work with a wide range of patient groups, including:

  • Paediatric patients

  • Special care patients

  • Priority and vulnerable groups (P&V) patients

  • Unregistered and emergency care patients

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential:

  • Recognised Dental Nursing qualification

  • Current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Nurse

  • Flexibility to work across various sites throughout the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area as service needs require

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of R4 Clinical+ (Electronic Patient Management System)

  • Working knowledge of Netcall or similar telephone contact management systems

  • Qualification in Inhalation Sedation
