Job Advert

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Technicians to join our dedicated Central Sterile Processing Department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to support a critical service that underpins safe and effective patient care across the hospital.

As a Trainee Decontamination Technician, you will be required to complete all aspects of the structured training programme and achieve competency across all areas of the department. This includes the full decontamination cycle of reusable medical devices, including receipt, cleaning, disinfecting, inspection, packing, sterilisation, and despatch to user departments. The role will also involve the collection, decontamination, and transportation of flexible endoscopes.

You will work in full compliance with ISO 13485:2016 standards and departmental quality management systems, ensuring all processes meet the highest safety and regulatory requirements. Flexibility is essential, as this role involves shift rotation and weekend working to support ongoing and future service developments.

Previous experience within a sterile services or decontamination environment is desirable; however, full training will be provided.

Salary and Progression:
This post is offered as a trainee position at Band 2. On successful completion of departmental competencies across all work areas, the post will progress to Band 3.

Candidates who already hold the required qualifications and competencies for a Band 3 role may be appointed directly at Band 3, subject to assessment.
