The Role

To interpret and translate the clinical records for inpatient, daycase and outpatient episodes into international classifications to form part of a national and local data set ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with national standards and definitions and for use within the Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

The working pattern for this role is Wednesday , Thursday & Friday : 09:00am - 17:00pm.

In this key role, you will:

  • Identify inpatient, daycase and outpatient episodes required to be coded.
  • Interpretation of clinical records and input of ISD coding terminology using Medicode encoder and International Classification of Diseases (ICD1O) and Office of Population and Censuses Surveys (OPCS4) manuals.
  • Validation of coding for submission to Information and Statistics Division (ISD), Edinburgh.
  • Ensure that these records are coded to a high standard and in accordance with National or International standards.

What You'll Bring:

• A minimum of 2 years Health Records experience within the NHS dealing with computerised records.
• A good knowledge of PAS modules and other systems.
• A good knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology.
• This knowledge should be obtained by completing the relevant ISD training course.
