The Role


This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Medical and Surgical physiotherapy services within University Hospital Monklands. The role requires an enthusiastic and forward thinking individual with a focus on quality service delivery and a service improvement approach.

The Medical Physio team provide inpatient rehabilitation to a range of specialties, including respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, medical high dependency, renal, infectious diseases and general medical. The team also have clinical responsibility within our outpatient services including Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Respiratory Out-patients. The Surgical Physio team provide inpatient rehabilitation to general surgery, urology and ENT specialties as well as daily input to Critical Care. They also run outpatient amputee rehabilitation clinics. This leadership role is vital in developing and delivering the pan-Lanarkshire Medical and Surgical Specialty Group priorities

In this key role, you will:

  • Manage the team within your care group area as delegated by the care group lead, including chairing regular team meetings.
  • To participate in recruitment of physiotherapy staff and health care support workers
  • Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise more junior staff (as per organisational chart) to maximise efficiency and ensure the delivery of best practice this would include day to day allocation and reallocation of staff and tasks to meet ever changing service demands.
  • Participate in, and lead, within the team, Personal Development and Planning Review and the eKSF process to promote personal and service development and to support performance management as required.
  • To have an active role in local audit, quality & clinical effectiveness and research complying with organisational and departmental policies and procedures, supporting the Clinical Governance Agenda.

What You'll Bring:

  • Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
