An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our busy Gynaecology Ward. This environment cares for general, emergency, and oncology gynaecology patients

As part of the multi‑disciplinary team, the post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and/or implementation and evaluation of these care programmes. Ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients within the Gynaecology services. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse seeking to develop their clinical skills within a supportive and progressive environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Practice within legal and ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and national legislation, policy, guidelines and procedures
  • Work within the NHS GG&C, Health & Safety Policy and guidelines and Executive (HSE) legislation
  • Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well being and future lifestyle by practising in an open, transparent and inclusive manner; thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care
  • Promote and support innovation in clinical practice
  • Adhere to the organisational Infection Control Policies and procedures and acts as a role model in maintenance of a safe environment
  • Contribute to the provision of an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards
  • Contribute to the clinical appraisal of pre-registration nurses
  • Demonstrate own professional development

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered nurse on the NMC register
  • Experience in caring for pre- and post-operative patients is desirable. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including close partnership with medical staff and specialist teams such as Acute Pain Services. There will be valuable opportunities to gain experience in emergency gynaecology care
  • Skills in Syringe Drivers, Intrathecal Opioids and Venepuncture and Cannulation are desirable but not essential
  • The role also involves caring for patients requiring palliative and end-of-life care. Training in palliative care will be supported and facilitated

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
