The role:
The Crisis Service will provide a comprehensive multi-agency team approach of care, rapidly responding to people in acute psychiatric distress, until the crisis has been resolved and the service user is linked to on going care. This will be delivered on the basis of least restrictive alternative and minimum disruption to the lives of service users, and offer a credible alternative to hospitalisation, whenever possible. This will take due note of the supports available and the needs of carers involved in the informal care of service users
Through a short-term case management approach, the service will provide intensive support and interventions to clients and carers prior to and following discharge from hospital, and will include service users who are on temporary leave from hospital through, for example, suspension of detention. This will include service users from the CHP catchment area who may be temporarily cared for within in service user facilities out with the CHP boundary

- Full time 37 hours per week
- Shift Pattern:
Monday- Friday shifts are 9-8 or 9-5.
Sat/Sun shifts are 9-5
Each week full time staff do 2 x 9-8 shifts and 2 x 9-5 shifts. 3 days off per week.

Key responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate client care
- Manage day‑to‑day clinical, practice and environmental risk.
- ess health‑promotion needs for service users and carers.
- Identify and respond to gender‑related needs, domestic abuse and child‑protection concerns.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date care and practice records.
- Build therapeutic, culturally sensitive relationships based on equality, dignity and respect
- Ensure practice complies with the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and national guidance.
- Work in line with national/local policies, standards and best‑practice frameworks.
- Reflect critically on practice and engage in continuous professional development.
- Support senior staff in maintaining governance, communication, leadership, standards, audit, evidence‑based practice and a learning‑focused safety culture.
- Provide meaningful learning opportunities for students, including mentoring and meeting placement standards.
- Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies; contribute to MDT meetings and case conferences.
- Offer specialist psychiatric advice and participate in multi‑agency discussions.
- Maintain strong knowledge of mental‑health legislation and advocate for service users and carers.
- Contribute to service review, development and improvement.
- Participate in audits and user/carer satisfaction processes.
- Follow all Health and Safety legislation and organisational policies.
- Act as a professional role model.
- Work collaboratively with support workers from purchased services, offering direction on care‑plan tasks.
- Participate in ongoing client reviews, including input from purchased services.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Completion of training as a first level registered nurse in mental health with a currently valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council o
- Some post registration experience, with experience of the mental health sector preferably community.
- Evidence of continual professional development
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- IT literate – basic level of Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook
- Applicants MUST have a full UK driving license.
