The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Tissue Viability Team, on a 12 month fixed term contract to identify improvements and service delivery across system including care Homes.
The Tissue Viability Service is an advisory specialist service within the Practice Development Centre, providing expert clinical advice, education and assurance to support quality improvement and evidence-based practice across NHS Lanarkshire.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the service, primarily based at University Hospital Hairmyres.
The working pattern for this role is Monday - Friday (Office Hours).
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In this key role, you will:
The post holder will deliver an advisory specialist role, supporting clinical teams with the assessment, prevention and management of pressure ulcers and complex wounds across acute and community settings. This includes providing expert advice, guidance and education to promote best practice and improve patient outcomes, rather than holding a direct caseload.
You will contribute to clinical assurance, audit and quality improvement activity, and support the implementation of local and national tissue viability guidance. The role involves providing cross-site advisory support across NHS Lanarkshire and contributing to wider service development and collaborative working with regional and national networks.
What You'll Bring:
We are looking for a registered nurse with experience, or a strong interest, in wound management and pressure ulcer prevention. You should have strong communication skills, sound clinical knowledge, and the ability to work autonomously while influencing practice across multidisciplinary teams.
A commitment to continuous professional development and improving patient outcomes is essential, alongside demonstrating NHS Lanarkshire values of openness, honesty, responsibility, quality and teamwork, care and compassion, dignity and respect.
- Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration.
- Educated to Degree Level.
- Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards.
- Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
