The Role

NHS Lanarkshire Renal Medical Physics Department is seeking a competent and enthusiastic Specialist Clinical Technologist to support existing staff in delivering a comprehensive medical equipment management service across hospitals and Health Centres within NHS Lanarkshire.
The post will be based at University Hospital Monklands, with regular travel required to University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres.
We are looking for a reliable, well-organised, and highly motivated individual with specialist knowledge of a broad range of medical equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the safe, effective, and compliant use of renal and associated medical devices across clinical environments.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop and broaden experience across all aspects of the Renal Medical Physics service, working closely with clinical, technical, and operational colleagues.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Renal Medical Physics on-call rota as part of the role.

In this key role, you will:

  • To carry out the servicing/repair/clinical support (assisting users in the operation of the medical equipment) on specialist medical equipment.
  • To ensure all work is carried out within the Section is recorded in the computer database.
  • To implement the Equipment Management Quality System (registered BS EN ISO 9001:2018) as described in the Work Instructions within the Section as directed, highlighting any problems to the Section Manager or Deputy.
  • To implement the planned preventive maintenance programme for the medical equipment under the care of the Section to ensure all equipment is correctly serviced, working, accessible, and safe and fit for the purpose it was intended. Any problems should be reported to the Section Manager or Deputy.

  • Education - to/working towards/operating at degree level.
  • Expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of guidelines and standards within the specialty/area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the specialty/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within specialty/area of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service deliver
