At the State Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Professions team — a place where your expertise will not only be valued but truly shape lives.

Why This Role Matters - As part of a highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team within a high-secure forensic environment, you will:

• Support individuals with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.
• Provide life‑changing interventions focused on daily living, productivity and meaningful occupation to help manage risk and promote recovery.
• Work autonomously with a defined caseload, using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence‑based practice.
• Be involved in service development, clinical audits, research, and innovation within the OT service.

Your work will directly influence patient progress, safety, independence and long‑term outcomes.

Experience – We’re looking for a practitioner who is:

• A qualified and HCPC‑registered Occupational Therapist.
• Experienced in mental health or learning disabilities.
• Skills in using a variety of assessments, including MOHO-based tools.
• Confident in managing complex clinical situations and risk.
• Motivated, reflective, and passionate about person-centred care.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Reduced Working Week* - Starting from 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, and part-time staff will get a pro-rata reduction in their working hours without losing any earnings.
