JOB TITLE: Clinical Fellow General and Vascular Surgery and Urology – Foundation Level


DEPARTMENT: General Surgery, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee

You may also be required to work at any of NHS Tayside’s sites, according to the needs of the service.


POST SUMMARY:


Working within the Department of General Surgery, this post will give the post holder the opportunity to gain clinical experience, develop procedural skills, perform quality improvement work and work towards completion of Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). This post will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to develop their clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner.


The post is based in the surgical department at Ninewells Hospital, covering emergency and elective admissions for general surgery (oesphagogastric, hepatobiliary and colorectal), vascular surgery and urology. Depending on level of experience, you may also work in the surgical high dependency unit (SHDU). In addition, all doctors at foundation level within the department, rotate to Perth Royal Infirmary, which provides elective general surgery. The successful candidate will provide a contribution to out of hours and weekend rotas, covering the surgical department.


There are a total of 10 clinical fellow positions at FY1 and FY2 level. We are looking to appoint to these positions as soon as possible, interviews will be held as and when applications are received.
