The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our enthusiastic, forward-thinking team within Ward 11C Urology in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The purpose of the ward is to provide acute adult nursing care for patients with varied General Surgical conditions. The ward provides postoperative care to elective patients via the Same Day Admissions Unit, Emergency Department and step down care from the Surgical HDU and continued emergency care from the Surgical Acute Receiving Unit.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post working 36 hours per week
  • The shift pattern for this post is 12-hour shifts, day/night rotations, and weekend working
  • You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • You may be expected to work in another clinical area when service needs are required.

Key responsibilities:

As part of this team, you will have responsibility for assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the ward environment.

You will possess sound clinical skills for the assessment of patients' needs, implementation and evaluation of care, which are evidence-based.

You will have the ability to work to high clinical standards in this fast-paced environment. You are required to be flexible, forward-thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment.

A fundamental part of the role is to participate in communications as part of the Multidisciplinary team to enhance the patient journey.

You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and should be able to work on your own merit, supported by the wider nursing team. You should possess excellent communication skills and decision-making skills with evidence of ongoing professional development.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered nurse on the NMC register
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Urology nursing is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description
