Plus, Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 per annum

27 days annual leave rising to 33 days plus 8 public holidays.


The NHS Western Isles Works and Estates Department is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Estates Co-ordinating Supervisor. The Works and Estates Department provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair, minor and capital works service for NHS Western Isles.


The post holder will lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary team of directly employed staff and specialist contractors, ensuring resources are utilised effectively and service standards are consistently maintained. The role is responsible for co-ordinating day to day operational maintenance issues and consequential service interruptions, along with preparing and implementing contingency plans, while ensuring that all works are carried out safely and in compliance with the relevant legislation and NHS guidance.


The post holder must be willing to undertake the role of Authorised Person/Responsible Person across the NHS estate, in terms of electrical and engineering systems, plant and equipment; medical equipment and for uniquely health care related systems such as piped Medical Gas systems and decontamination plant & equipment. The post holder will be required to attend training courses when required.


The post holder will possess excellent interpersonal skills teamed with good organisational skills, assertiveness and diplomacy; with the ability to use logic to solve problems rationally and effectively and be able to communicate clearly and articulately across all levels.
