Procurement Summer Student
Band 2 £26,696 to £28,988 per annum
Plus £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata
36 Hours per Week
Fixed Term Contract for Summer up to 4 months
The Procurement Department’s main role is to ensure good procurement practices, achieve value for money on non-pay spending, and improve supply chain services. The department also handles all central supply chain activities, including receiving deliveries, managing a warehouse of medical and stationery supplies, and distributing items across the whole of NHS Western Isles.
We require a summer student to assist the Procurement team with a range of tasks that will include:
- Providing administrative support to the Procurement Officers.
- Using electronic purchasing systems for ordering stock and supplies.
- Updating and maintaining spreadsheets using Excel.
- Assisting with general warehouse duties.
This placement would be suitable for those that are studying business, administration, management or a supply chain logistics related subject. You must have good IT skills and experience in the use of Excel. You will be required to be methodical with a good eye for detail and accuracy.
You will need excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner. It is essential that you can maintain confidentiality as you may be dealing with sensitive information. The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
