GP Locum Opportunity – Dr Egerton & Partners, Kirkcaldy (Fife)

We’re a friendly, well‑established GP practice based in Kirkcaldy Health Centre, and we’re looking for a GP locum to join us for 4-6 sessions each week until at least March 2027 (with some flexibility by agreement). The fee for each session will be £300.

Dr Egerton & Partners serves a patient population of just over 8,000, and we’re a stable, supportive and well‑organised practice. Our team includes seven GP partners, a practice nurse, diabetic specialist nurse, and an experienced admin and management team who genuinely work to make the day run smoothly. We also benefit from wider MDT support in line with Scottish primary care arrangements. In line with BMA guidance, we actively manage and control day‑to‑day consultation numbers to ensure sessions remain safe, sustainable and manageable.

The locum role would involve face-to-face and telephone consultations as appropriate, a very occasional home visit, management of blood results and Docman of your patients as well as one duty doctor session per week. There are regular catch-up slots within each clinical session, and the duty doctor role is generally very quiet (compared to the demands of being on-call doctor at other surgeries).

This role would suit a GP who’s looking for a longer‑term locum post with continuity.

We use a Locum–Practice Agreement, alongside a clear Locum Expectations document and an agreed Work Schedule. This sets out a clear understanding of what’s expected during each session, governance arrangements and day‑to‑day practicalities upfront.

Kirkcaldy is a large coastal town in central Fife, with excellent local amenities and easy access to Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth — whether you’re commuting, relocating, or mixing work with family life.

Please send a brief covering note and CV to Chris Deas, Practice Manager at chris.deas@nhs.scot. Informal enquiries or expressions of interest are very welcome.
