The role:
Your role will be to support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients and to medical and nursing staff. This includes ensuring that outpatient clinics, day cases and inpatient admissions are administered accurately, maintaining the confidentiality of patient records, and ensuring records are securely stored and available when required.
To provide efficient administrative, clerical and receptionist services, maintaining both electronic and paper-based patient record systems. This involves ensuring that patient demographic and administrative data are accurate and continually updated.
Working in a fast‑paced call centre environment, handling a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls, booking, cancelling and rearranging outpatient appointments while providing clear and helpful information to patients.

No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa. routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for roles that do not meet these criteria, and applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered.

Permanent, Full-time
Shift Pattern - Monday, Wednesday & Friday 09:30-17:00/30 & Tuesday & Thursday 09:30-17:30/30
This is a GGC‑wide post, meaning the postholder may be moved to any location within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Initial base: Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Key responsibilities:
Provide an efficient Health Records service to support clinical care.
Administer and process outpatient, day case and inpatient appointments accurately.
Maintain confidentiality and secure storage of patient health records.
Provide administrative, clerical and receptionist support.
Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based patient record systems.
Continually check and update patient demographic and administrative data.
Handle high volumes of calls in a call centre environment.
Book, cancel and rearrange outpatient appointments.
Provide clear, helpful information to patients.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
National 4 or Level 1 qualification in 3 subjects, including English (or equivalent).
General administration and office experience is desirable.
Computer-literate with good keyboard skills.
Previous reception experience is not essential but is desirable.
Prior experience using a Patient Management System is desirable (training will be provided).
