Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Principal Pharmacist to lead and manage the Clinical Pharmacy team across NHS Ayrshire & Arran Acute hospital sites.
Hours and Shift Pattern:
36 hours working over 7 days. The post involves participation in departmental rotas including weekends and public holidays. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
What you will do:
You will be responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of clinical pharmacy services across NHS Ayrshire & Arran ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and standards, as part of the Principal Pharmacist Clinical Services Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly skilled and motivated team, to lead and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services and have an active role in local, regional and national groups.
This post will be strategically aligned to the Medicine Division including cardiology, endocrine, gastroenterology, respiratory, stroke, care of the elderly and frailty. The Principal Pharmacist Clinical Services will promote strong clinical governance links and enable collaborative working with the directorate senior leadership team. The post-holder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating clinical pharmacy service provision and performance using this evaluation as a basis for improvement and development.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
The postholder requires to have a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent and be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Applicants must have completed a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, have completed the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum or have equivalent experience. The postholder must hold an independent prescribing qualification.
Applicants should have leadership, staff management & performance management experience. Applicants should also demonstrate evidence of experience in service delivery & development, and the ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement.
