The role:
This post offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic, reflective and supportive Occupational Therapy Team, providing opportunities to develop skills working with adults in the community experiencing a range of mental health issues. The team works closely with other professionals and considers patient focused services essential in the assessment and treatment process. Key duties include occupational therapy assessment and treatment of severe and enduring mental health conditions. Team duties including desk duty and mental health assessments. There are a range of opportunities provided for your own personal development including grade specific training and you will receive professional support and supervision. Applicants must hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered, and have relevant experience.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is a permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week.
Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
Based at Auchinlea CMHT, 11 Auchinlea Road, Easterhouse, G34 9QA
Key responsibilities:
Clinical
To plan and implement client centred individual and/or group interventions, using skills to assess, grade, modify, review and evaluate clinical intervention to deliver therapeutic goals & maximised functional independence and rehabilitation potential within their specialist area.
To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments which will identify factors affecting the patient’s functional performance. These factors may include physical as well as mental health barriers to function.
To work in partnership with the patients to establish realistic and achievable Occupational Therapy goals and contribute to the overall multidisciplinary & multi agency treatment approach.
To apply evidence based approach to clinical interventions including the use of standardised assessments and outcome measures allowing clinical evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process.
To manage designated clinical caseload efficiently & effectively and apply principles of organisation e.g. to document all clinical interventions, organise appointments, liaise with other disciplines and inform the overall multidisciplinary approach.
As part of the multi disciplinary team the post holder will contribute to and participate in the multidisciplinary assessments process, e.g. risk assessment, single shared assessment, mental health assessments and diagnosis of conditions.
To demonstrate knowledge of mental illness and its potential impact on the individual, their carers and their living and working environment.
To undertake clinical risk assessment in order to inform the multi-disciplinary & integrated multi agency care planning process & assist in the creation of risk management plans.
To work in a psychologically minded way with patients and utilise evidence based low intensity interventions; following relevant training, as deemed appropriate for the service. (e.g. Behavioural Activation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions.
- Developing critical analysis skills related to applying research findings.
- Membership with British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) – desirable.
- Ability to demonstrate person centred care through the use of a range of verbal and non verbal communication skills to facilitate caring relationships and effective team working.
- To demonstrate caring and compassionate behaviours with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues, maintaining dignity and respect within all interactions and therapeutic interventions.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
