Applications are invited for the position of Medical Laboratory Assistant. This is an opportunity for an individual to work as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside and North-East Fife.


The Blood Sciences Department is based on two sites at Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching hospital and Medical School, Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary, Perth.


We are looking for a member of staff that can demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, initiative, flexibility and has the enthusiasm to train further. You will be in a post that rotates through Core Automation, including pre-analytical areas and specialist sections. You will also be expected to support the professional scientific staff in delivering the analytical services, to carry out general laboratory duties, and to assist with the preparation and receipt of patient samples for analysis.


Previous experience and employment in a hospital environment is desirable, but not essential. Public Holiday and weekend working will be required.


You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

Hours of work are: 36 per week core hours rostered between 08:00-20:00, plus weekends and Public Holidays on a shared roster and may be required to work out of hour’s sessions.
