An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team within the Older People and Stroke Services at the Vale of Leven Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a genuine desire to make a difference and deliver high-quality, person-centred care to older adults. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge across various specialist areas, including stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedic rehabilitation, movement disorders, and general medical care for the elderly.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Vale of Leven
  • Monday to Sunday rotational shifts


Key responsibilities:

  • Working within the nursing and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care for a defined patient group
  • Performing the necessary technical, invasive, and physical aspects of care competently
  • Carrying responsibility for the assessment of care needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans
  • Providing clinical leadership for patient assessment and ensuring care is evidence-based
  • Collaborating closely with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, including frailty practitioners and AHP Consultants, to facilitate effective discharge planning
  • Acting as a role model to colleagues and student nurses


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • First or Second Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Ability to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care within Medicine for the Elderly
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary hospital team
  • Competence in extended clinical skills such as IV therapy cannulation and venepuncture, or willingness to develop
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support patients, families, and carers sensitively
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, education and reflective practice
  • Confidence to work autonomously, take charge when required, and support junior staff
