Team Lead Occupational Therapists; North West and North East Localities
Community Rehabilitation; Prevention of Admission, Discharge to Assess and Reablement
Are you a quick thinking, flexible and confident Occupational Therapist ready to lead a fast-paced integrated community team? Can you navigate the challenges of working at the interface of hospital and community, supporting people home from hospital in a timely manner and preventing other people from being admitted to hospital unnecessarily? If so we have two Team Lead posts in our friendly, supportive team.
We are looking for Team Lead Occupational Therapists to join our city-wide service to lead and manage a team of Occupational Therapists and Assistant Practitioners across Discharge to Assess, Prevention of Admission and Reablement work streams. This is an exciting time to join the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership as we continue to develop our services and expand our AHP portfolio across the Partnership. You will make a vital contribution to enabling people to return home from hospital as soon as medically able and in supporting people to remain at home rather than being admitted to hospital.
As well as providing a Leadership role for both NHS and Local Authority Occupational Therapists, you will work as part of an integrated team with Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and Community Therapy assistants on a daily basis. You will have excellent organisational skills and be a clear, kind and effective communicator. Previous experience of working in a rehabilitation or community setting with highly developed discharge planning skills are essential.
We are a city wide service and there is an expectation for you to be based in one of four Community bases throughout the city, depending on the priority needs of the service.
For an informal chat please reach out to Lynn Freeman, Community Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy Manager at lynn.freeman1@nhs.scot or on 07483352615
Please see the job description and person specification for more details. The successful applicant will have the choice of being employed by City of Edinburgh Council or NHS Lothian.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.
- Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
- Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
- Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.
Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.
