Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Lanarkshire Advanced Practice Physiotherapy team within Vestibular services, on a full-time, temporary basis.

We provide a high-quality, person-centred service within Vestibular Clinics through specialised clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with vestibular disorders.

You will identify appropriate rehabilitation needs, implement evidence-based management plans, and determine ongoing treatment requirements or discharge as appropriate.

The service is committed to delivering an efficient and effective patient-centred service, underpinned by a robust evidence base and continuous service improvement where appropriate.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a full-time (36) fixed term post for 12 months.
  • The post will be based between Glasgow and Lanarkshire, and will involve cross-site working between both health boards.
  • You will work these hours on a 5/7 shift pattern.

Key responsibilities:

You will work as an autonomous practitioner within the Vestibular Clinic setting, utilising highly developed specialist knowledge and skills to work beyond the traditional scope of physiotherapy practice in support of a “one-stop” model of vestibular assessment and management for patients referred for specialist opinion.

Providing specialised clinical assessment and diagnosis, determining appropriate management pathways including onward referral to other medical specialities, identification of rehabilitation needs, or discharge where appropriate.

The role will act as a source of expert clinical advice on the assessment and management of vestibular disorders within Physiotherapy Services and across the wider multidisciplinary team, providing a consultative resource for physiotherapy colleagues across all grades.

You will contribute to service audit, quality improvement, and research activity, supporting the development of innovative approaches to optimise patient care and effective use of organisational resources.

The role will also support the delivery of education and training relating to vestibular assessment and management to relevant healthcare professionals across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy leading to registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Master’s degree relevant to the specialty, or significant and extensive post-graduate experience within the physiotherapy profession, including relevant clinical experience within the specialty area.
  • Evidence of specialist post-graduate education, training, and continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialty.
  • Advanced specialist knowledge and expertise in the assessment and management of a broad range of vestibular and associated medical conditions.
  • Demonstrable high level of clinical knowledge, experience, and competence in vestibular assessment, examination, clinical reasoning, diagnosis, and management.

What we offer:

We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.

As an NHS Scotland employee, you will be entitled to:

  • A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays
  • Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance benefits
  • Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme
  • Development opportunities including study bursaries, e-learning and classroom-based courses
  • Enhanced pay for working public holidays
  • NHS discounts on a wide range of goods and services
  • Confidential employee support and assistance, including counselling and psychological therapies
